We are delighted to announce the opportunity has opened to join the Alternative Heat team as a Contracts Manager, assisting the teams in delivery of our Data Centres Projects.
Due to our continued success in the delivery of this sector across Europe, UK & IRE, we are now one of the leading manufactures in the delivery of Chilled Water Systems as an offsite modular package solution, accompanied with the inclusion of modular plantrooms to house associated plant.
As we continue to excel in this sector, we are looking for an individual who has experienced working within a data centre environment and the ability to bring new and fresh ideas to sustain the company’s strong growth and future development plans.
We are looking for the individual who is a strong communicator within the team and can continue to build our relationship with our valued clients, always looking out for the best interest of the company and protecting our position.
Introduce development plans to keep evolving the teams and recruitment plans to continue delivery of these prestigious projects to our company’s high standards and programme milestones.
A strategic planner analysing current and future workloads in relation to the planning process and assessing the capabilities to fulfil contractual requirements and identifying potential risks and growth opportunities.
Strong commercial awareness to valuate on monthly reporting and scope discrepancy.
The ability in directing teams and working with multi departments along any project lifecycle, bring a good working culture and holding the company core values at the forefront at all times through all business and project objectives.
Responsibilities
With over 20 years of experience within the Commercial Offsite Fabrication industry, Alternative Heat have established themselves as a market leader in this sector.
Located centrally between Dublin and Belfast our 8.5 acre Head Office and fabrication facilities, which are fully equipped with overhead cranes and 8,000m² of workshop floor area, provide an ideal factory construction environment which is reflected in the high quality solutions we offer.
We employ a strong team of design engineers, CAD technicians, contracts managers and skilled trades personnel who utilise their vast industry experience to assist in the design, fabrication and delivery of our bespoke MEP solutions, which we supply throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.

Responsibilities
- To manage and develop your site management team to ensure the delivery of a project in a timely manner.
- Liaise regularly with the client via online meetings and regular on-site discussions to ensure they are satisfied with current progress and the forecast of up-and-coming works.
- Ensure your managers & site teams are working as efficiently as possible and all high-level objects have been set out for your management team to be accomplish in target dates.
- Ensure all drawings that the site teams are working to are the correct revision.
- Liaise with the project co-ordinator to ensure all high-level templates are populated and Setout for the Construction team to follow. (i.e., Material trackers/programmes/lessons learnt)
- Ensure all plant and equipment are procured correctly, in line with the specification and client requirements.
- Throughout the project track costs (material & labour) to ensure the project will be delivered as per original target spends.
- Assess requirement for labour and sub-contractors to undertake various elements of installation work and the development/expansion of your team
- Prepare a weekly project meeting with the wider internal Alt Heat team to ensure critical path elements are being actioned and addressed by the relevant departments.
- Provide accurate information on contract variation and monthly claims back through to the commercial team for their monthly valuations.
- Attend monthly meetings with the Operations Manager to discuss team performance and areas to develop the team as well as looking at job performance.
- Attend Monthly Meetings with the wider department management to review company performance and any changes to company procedures, some of which you will filter through you team.
- Ensure and assist with the preparation of commissioning upon completion of the project. Ensure the team has marked up all As-built drawings and compiled all associated certs.
- Ability to work in conjunction with the client to ensure Alt Heat and their site teams work is carried out safely and to a high standard.
- Ensure the tracking of project performance is tracked on a weekly basis via progress reporting back to the Client.
- Ideally a minimum of 5 years professional experience in a senior leadership role.
- Flexible with travel within the EU region.
- Extensive planning experience and excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills both internally and externally with our valued clients.
- Experience working on major construction projects within the Data Centre Sector.
- Self-motivated team player with good people skills.
- Integrity and credibility, people want to work with you.
- Full clean driving licence
- Degree in a relevant design or construction subject.
- An in depth understanding of Mechanical, Electrical and Pipework (MEP) systems would be advantageous.
- Ideally a member of a chartered institute or equivalent accreditation, to support the complex nature of business development and technical input required for the position would be advantageous.
