Electrical Design Engineer (m/f/d)

Germany (Hanau / Frankfurt region) | Permanent Position

Overview

A specialist engineering and technical services organisation operating within the electrical infrastructure and protective systems sector is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of building and infrastructure projects across commercial, industrial, and mission critical environments.


The business delivers electrical and technical design solutions across a range of developments including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, utility infrastructure, and high-reliability technical environments.


Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design Delivery

  • Produce detailed electrical engineering designs covering power distribution, lighting systems, earthing/grounding, and lightning protection systems
  • Carry out electrical calculations including cable sizing, load assessments, and routing layouts
  • Prepare technical documentation such as specifications, calculations, and equipment schedules
  • Ensure compliance with relevant European and international standards (DIN / VDE / IEC)
  • Review client requirements, drawings, and technical documentation to develop design solutions


Tender & Commercial Support

  • Support tendering processes with technical engineering input
  • Assist with material take-offs, BOQs, and value engineering proposals
  • Contribute to cost-effective and buildable design solutions
  • Support preparation of technical submissions and proposals


Coordination & Collaboration

  • Work alongside mechanical, civil, and architectural disciplines to integrate designs
  • Attend coordination meetings with clients, consultants, and project teams
  • Identify and resolve design clashes and technical issues
  • Ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within wider project designs


Project & Site Support

  • Provide technical support to project delivery and site teams
  • Respond to RFIs and technical queries
  • Review installation drawings and shop documentation
  • Assist in resolving design-related site issues during construction phases


Quality & Documentation

  • Ensure all design outputs meet quality and compliance requirements
  • Participate in design reviews and approval processes
  • Maintain accurate documentation and revision control
  • Support as-built documentation and project handover deliverables


Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to design optimisation and value engineering initiatives
  • Stay up to date with industry standards, tools, and technologies
  • Support development of internal design processes and templates


Candidate Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or similar discipline
  • Experience in electrical design within construction, infrastructure, or building services environments
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and standards (DIN / VDE / IEC)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools
  • Structured, detail-oriented, and analytical approach to engineering work
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Fluent English required (German advantageous but not essential)
