Senior IT Business Analyst / Requirements Engineer (Insurance / Banking)

• Start Date: Mid-June
• Workload: Full-time
• Location: Frankfurt am Main & Cologne, Germany
• On-site Requirement:First 3 months: 3 days per week onsite in Frankfurt
• Thereafter: 2 days per week onsite across Frankfurt and Cologne
• ***Have to be setup as a Sole trader for b2b engagement***

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Business Analyst / Requirements Engineer to support complex transformation and process optimisation initiatives within the insurance and banking environment. The successful candidate will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring business requirements are translated into scalable and effective solution designs.

Experience within the insurance or banking sector is essential, and exposure to trade credit insurance would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyse, and structure business requirements within the scope of requirements engineering
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and solution concepts
• Perform end-to-end analysis of business processes, including interfaces, data flows, and system dependencies
• Model and optimise business processes
• Create and maintain functional documentation, specifications, and user stories
• Collaborate closely with business units, architects, developers, and other stakeholders
• Support testing, validation, and business acceptance processes
• Facilitate workshops, alignment sessions, and decision-making meetings
• Support organisational change and transformation initiatives

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in IT requirements engineering / business analysis
• Strong experience analysing complex business and system landscapes
• Solid understanding of end-to-end process analysis and process modelling (e.g. BPMN)
• Knowledge of IT architectures, interfaces, and data models
• Experience working within agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, Design Thinking)
• Experience with data analysis and ideally SQL-based specifications
• Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar collaboration tools
• Experience supporting change and transformation programmes
• Mandatory experience within the insurance or banking sector
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Independent, proactive, and self-driven working style

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within the trade credit insurance domain
• Knowledge of Pega would be a strong advantage
• French language skills are considered a plus
