Overall Mission
The Logistics Manager will manage Operations to guarantee service quality. They will handle temperature-controlled transport solutions in compliance with the commitments made and in collaboration with the OPS and quality team.
In addition, the role will support the development of CRYOPDP operations in the Frankfurt area, with the objective to build and structure a future local setup.
Main Contributions
Managing Temperature-Controlled Shipments:
- Preparing and verifying documents required for transporting temperature-sensitive goods (e.g., export and import paperwork, customs invoices, AWB, HAWB).
- Monitoring real-time transport conditions (temperature) to ensure compliance with customer requirements and regulations.
- Ensuring compliance with GDP and industry standards and regulations for handling and shipping temperature-controlled products.
- Ensuring that the correct temperature-controlled containers (e.g., refrigerated containers, cool boxes) are used for each shipment.
- Coordinating with airlines and handling agents to ensure the use of the proper equipment during the airfreight process.
Proactive Monitoring and Response (Customer and Supplier communication):
- Proactively monitoring shipment status and condition throughout transit to anticipate any potential temperature excursions and acting accordingly
- Maintaining regular communication with customers, ensuring they are updated on the status of temperature-sensitive shipments.
- Communicating with customers as well as with airlines, handling agents, customs brokers and other logistic service providers.
- Handling any incidents related to temperature deviations, including addressing customer concerns and managing the escalation process.
Continuous Improvement:
- In case of temperature deviation, initiating contingency plans and ensuring proper corrective actions.
- Identifying and implementing improvements in handling, packaging, and transportation processes to enhance the quality and efficiency of temperature-controlled shipments.
Compliance and Auditing:
- Ensuring adherence to all relevant regulatory bodies’ standards (e.g., GDP – Good Distribution Practice, IATA Temperature-Controlled Regulations).
- Conducting audits on shipments to ensure adherence to the required processes and identifying areas for improvement.
Data Management:
- Ensuring 100% accurate and timely data entry related to temperature-sensitive shipments (e.g., real-time temperature data logs, shipment tracking details).
Additional Responsibilities (Florstadt / FRA Development):
- Acting as on-site interface with DHL SC and local partners, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Supporting the setup and development of CRYOPDP Premium capabilities in Frankfurt (FRA).
- Building and maintaining relationships with airlines, handling agents, and customs brokers.
- Supporting implementation of IATA-related requirements and standards.
- Contributing to the preparation of a future CRYOPDP operational presence in the Frankfurt area.
- Taking ownership and initiative in structuring processes and supporting future site development.
Requirements
- Fluency in English and German
- 3–5+ years in logistics / airfreight operations (temperature-controlled or pharma logistics preferred) • Strong knowledge of airfreight operations (handling, freight forwarding, customs clearance, communication with airlines etc.)
- Experience in managing daily operations independently
- Initial experience in setup, development, or coordination of new operations is a plus
- IATA DGR training
Specific Knowledge
- 3–5+ years in logistics / airfreight operations (temperature-controlled or pharma logistics preferred)
- Strong knowledge of airfreight operations, ideally at FRA airport (handling, freight forwarding, customs clearance, communication with airlines etc.)
- Experience in managing daily operations independently
- Initial experience in setup, development, or coordination of new operations is a plus
- IATA DGR training
