About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Energy Strategy & Carbon Management Expert to support power resource planning, electricity portfolio strategy, and carbon management across data center infrastructure in China and international markets. This role focuses on securing reliable, cost-effective, and lower-carbon power solutions for both self-built and leased data centers. It combines energy strategy, electricity market analysis, power solution planning, carbon management, and external stakeholder engagement to support sustainable data center growth across multiple regions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in power systems, electricity markets, and low-carbon energy pathways, with the ability to work across government authorities, utilities, project partners, and internal teams to drive strategic energy outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Support the achievement of targets related to power resources, power solutions, electricity portfolio planning, and carbon management for self-built and leased data centers.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with government energy authorities, local governments, grid operators, power generation companies, and project partners, including data center park operators, developers, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
• Support initiatives that strengthen coordination between data center development and power resource availability, and help secure reliable, cost-effective, and lower-carbon electricity supply solutions.
• Evaluate and develop energy supply options for data centers, including direct renewable power supply, incremental distribution networks, power trading, and integrated source-grid-load-storage solutions.
• Assess the technical maturity, reliability, and commercial viability of emerging energy solutions for data center applications.
• Support energy cost optimization through analysis of regional electricity markets, tariff structures, and commercial models, and contribute to suitable electricity trading or procurement strategies.
• Contribute to the development of standards, methodologies, and management approaches related to electricity cost management, renewable energy transition, greenhouse gas inventory management, and carbon neutrality.
• Coordinate power demand and carbon management considerations across different project stages to support sustainable and scalable data center development.
• Monitor market, regulatory, and industry developments related to electricity systems, energy transition, and carbon policy, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Support other energy strategy and carbon management initiatives as required.
  
  

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Power Systems, Environmental Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in energy strategy, power project development, power system planning, grid interconnection, electricity trading, carbon management, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of power generation technologies, source-grid-load-storage applications, power systems, grid architectures, electricity market rules, and carbon policy frameworks in domestic and/or international markets.
• Familiarity with electricity tariff structures, metering approaches, grid connection processes, and power usage models for large power consumers such as data centers.
• Ability to evaluate data center energy supply pathways from technical, commercial, and operational perspectives.
• Strong analytical capabilities, including data processing, modeling, and the ability to use digital tools to support energy planning and electricity management analysis.
• Experience using large language model APIs, AI coding tools, or similar digital methods to improve analysis, reporting, or platform capabilities is a plus.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and external partners.
• Bilingual or multilingual proficiency is preferred, with proficiency in Chinese considered a strong advantage.
