We are seeking a Business Development Director to drive origination and mandate conversion across the European markets. This role sits within a high-performing global team and is focused on winning new business across loan and bond transactions by leveraging deep market knowledge, transaction experience and relationships across key stakeholders including law firms, sponsors, lenders and financial advisors. The position is particularly well suited to candidates coming from a deal execution, agency, lending or debt advisory background who are looking to transition into a more commercial role, taking ownership of revenue generation while remaining closely aligned to live transactions and market activity. You will play a central role in converting deal exposure into mandates, shaping client strategy and contributing directly to Kroll's continued growth across Germany and continental Europe.

Revised Responsibilities

• Originate and convert new business opportunities across loan and bond transactions throughout the DACH region and wider European markets.
• Leverage existing deal experience and market relationships to drive mandate wins and revenue growth.
• Engage directly with key referrers including German and international law firms, private equity sponsors, banks, direct lenders and debt advisors.
• Develop and maintain senior-level relationships across the German leveraged finance, private credit and capital markets ecosystem. (Localized enhancement based on role responsibilities.)
• Work alongside internal deal teams on live transactions to identify and secure opportunities.
• Develop and execute targeted business development strategies aligned with Kroll's growth priorities across continental Europe.
• Build and maintain strong relationships across Kroll's global platform to support coordinated origination efforts.
• Track and manage pipeline activity, ensuring accurate reporting of key opportunities and revenue drivers.
• Represent Kroll at industry conferences, networking events and client meetings across Germany and Europe, with a clear focus on return on investment.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of Kroll's product offering and go-to-market approach.
  
  

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience within the loan and/or bond markets, ideally from an agency, trustee, bank, private credit, restructuring or advisory platform.
• Strong understanding of transaction dynamics and market participants across leveraged finance, restructuring, private credit and capital markets.
• Proven ability to build and leverage relationships to generate business opportunities and originate mandates.
• Established network within the German and/or wider European debt finance market preferred.
• Commercial mindset with the ability to translate deal exposure into revenue generation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent English required; German language skills strongly preferred.
• Highly motivated, proactive and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment.
• Experience supporting or mentoring junior team members is advantageous.
