Project Description:

As part of a demanding IT infrastructure project, we are looking for an experienced Senior Citrix Engineer to support our client in the further development, optimization, and secure operation of their Citrix environment. The focus is on operating and securing Citrix NetScaler as a VPN gateway, as well as migrating and improving an extensive Citrix VDI environment with approximately 1,500 virtual desktops. The role requires a high level of responsibility and independent work in a complex enterprise environment.

Project Details:

• Start Date: 15.05.2026

• Duration: Approximately 6 months (until 31.10.2026)

• Workload: 100% (80% also possible)

• Location: Mostly remote (80–90%), occasional on-site work in Frankfurt am Main

Responsibilities:

1. Operation, administration, and further development of Citrix NetScaler as a VPN gateway (e.g., remote access)

2. Implementation of security measures and hardening of the NetScaler environment according to current security standards

3. Management and further development of pooled and persistent VDIs in the existing Citrix VDI environment

4. Migration of the VDI environment (around 1,500 VDIs) from the existing VMware virtualization layer to Nutanix

5. Optimization of overall performance and stability of the VDI environment

6. Independent troubleshooting and issue resolution during ongoing operations

7. Documentation of implemented measures and configuration changes

Experience & Skills Required:

1. Several years of proven experience in operating and developing Citrix NetScaler / ADC (especially as a VPN gateway)

2. Strong knowledge of IT security and hardening of network components

3. Several years of experience administering Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), including pooled and persistent VDIs

4. Proven experience with VMware environments and knowledge of Nutanix (AHV) as a migration target

5. Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style

Preferred:

• Knowledge of automation/scripting (e.g., PowerShell)

• Experience with large VDI environments (1,000+ desktops)

• Fluent German language skills
