About the Role
Webmentix GmbH is seeking a highly skilled Level 2 Network Engineer (5–8 years of experience) to provide critical support for our global client’s enterprise network infrastructure. This role focuses on the hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of Local Area Network (Data Center & Enterprise), Wide Area Network, and Wireless Local Area Network environments.
As a key technical resource, you will provide 24/7 Network Operations Center support, manage incident and change requests, and collaborate with hardware and software vendors to ensure the stability and security of a large-scale, distributed network.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Troubleshooting: Perform hands-on resolution for complex issues within Enterprise Data Center, Local Area, Wide Area, and Wireless networks.
- Operational Support: Provide 24/7 Network Operations Center support to maintain the health of global, distributed network environments.
- Ticket Management: Execute Level 1 and Level 2 incident and change management workflows, ensuring service level adherence.
- Network Lifecycle: Plan and execute upgrades for network devices, including remote management and continuous monitoring of operations.
- Vendor Coordination: Partner with hardware and software vendors to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure problems.
Required Skills and Experience
Technical Expertise (Must Have):
- Network Infrastructure: Demonstrated experience in Enterprise Local Area Network (Data Center & Enterprise), Wide Area Network, and Wireless Local Area Network environments.
- Load Balancing: Proficiency with Server Load Balancers (F5, Citrix, or Cisco).
- SD-WAN Solutions: Hands-on experience with SD-WAN technologies (Viptela, Silverpeak, VeloCloud, or Meraki).
- Wireless: Deep knowledge of Aruba, Cisco, or Meraki wireless solutions.
- Connectivity & Protocols: * MPLS, DMVPN, Quality of Service (QoS), DHCP, DNS, and IP Address Management.
- IPsec, VPNs, GRE, and NAT/PAT across multiple platforms.
- Routing & Switching:
- Routing Protocols: RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, and ISIS.
- Switching: VLAN, Trunking, 802.1x, Spanning Tree Protocol variants, HSRP/VRRP, and VTP.
- Certification: Cisco Certified Network Associate or Professional (Mandatory).
- Desired Skills (Good to Have):
- Fortinet SD-WAN proficiency.
Professional Experience:
- 5–8 years of professional experience in network engineering within large global Data Center/LAN/WAN/WLAN environments.
- Proven track record of managing 24/7 operations, incident lifecycle, and vendor coordination.
Qualifications & Work Model
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Mandatory).
- Language: Fluency in English is required; German language proficiency (B1/B2) is a significant advantage.
- Work Authorization: Candidates must possess a valid, unrestricted legal right to work in Germany/EU.
- Logistics: This position is strictly on-site in Brunsbüttel. Candidates must be willing to relocate if necessary.
